Predictive Fleet Technologies
James Mentele (Jim) is the applications architect for Predictive Fleet Technologies, collecting data and building models of vehicle performance since 2010. This has resulted incorporation of Predictive Fleet Technologies with Douglas Strock in 2013 to develop a set of applications to help people in the transportation industry become more efficient. In parallel, Jim has been a senior research fellow at the Institute for Health and Business Insight at Central Michigan University. There he has worked with many industries to employ advanced analytics involving neural networks, text mining, systems dynamics, sequence analysis, etc. to address business problems. Jim was a senior information scientist at Dow Corning, retiring in 2001 after 35 years. At Dow Corning, Jim was responsible for global IT applications and database architecture, the Language Translation Capability Center, using structure-property relationship modeling for materials & process design, and using structured innovation methods for opportunity analysis. He was appointed to the Core Business board of directors in 1998. Jim remained affiliated with Dow Corning for 13 more years in a Scientist Emeritus role.
Jim served 10 years as chair of the Mid-Michigan Medical Center Information Technology Advisory Board, served on the Board of Trustees at Mt. Marty College in Yankton, SD for 8 years, participated on the South Dakota State University Engineering Advisory Council for 10 years, and numerous other organizations such as the ACLU and People to People International. Jim was recognized in 2006 by South Dakota State University as a Distinguished Engineer, 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year by the CMU Research Corporation (CMURC). He received his BS in mathematics and MS in physics from South Dakota State University.
